Punjab Government’s New Plan: Metro Bus Service Launched in Another City!

Published on:

The Punjab government has announced a major new transport project that will improve the way people travel in Faisalabad. Under this plan, the city will receive a modern metro bus and tram service that aims to provide fast, safe, and comfortable travel to thousands of residents every day. According to officials, 27 metro buses and two trams will run on the newly planned Orange Line route, which will cover 20 kilometers from Faisal Town (Jaranwala Road) to Tahirpur (Jhang Road).

Details of the New Orange Line Route

The Orange Line is expected to be one of the biggest public transport initiatives in Faisalabad’s history. The route will include 22 stations, two depots, and six U-turns to make travel easy and smooth for daily passengers. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is likely to attend the groundbreaking ceremony soon, marking the official start of the construction work. In a recent meeting, Captain (R) Zahid Saeed from the Punjab Mass Transit Authority and Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar discussed the project’s progress and the approval of PC-1. They reviewed important steps needed to ensure timely construction and efficient planning.

Utility Shifting and Departmental Coordination

Before construction begins, several government departments must shift their utility lines from the project route. Organizations such as WASA, FESCO, Sui Gas, PHA, the Municipal Corporation, and the Traffic Police have been instructed to start this work immediately. Another meeting will be held next week to set a clear timeline for completing these tasks. Authorities also emphasized the need to inform the public beforehand so that temporary disruptions in water, gas, or electricity supply do not cause major problems for residents.

Benefits for the People of Faisalabad

Once completed, the new metro bus and tram system will offer many benefits. It will provide a reliable and affordable travel option for thousands of commuters. The project will also help reduce traffic congestion, lower the number of private vehicles on roads, and decrease pollution in the city. Families will save money on fuel, and passengers will enjoy a safer alternative to motorcycles, rickshaws, and overcrowded buses.

A Promising Future for Public Transport

Overall, the Orange Line project is a significant step toward modernizing Faisalabad’s transport system. It reflects the government’s commitment to improving public services and making daily life easier for citizens. With modern stations, fast travel, and improved safety, this project is set to transform the city’s transportation network and support its growth in the years ahead.
