Saudi Arabia has announced new health rules for Hajj 2026. According to the government, only pilgrims who meet specific medical standards will be allowed to perform Hajj. This step has been taken to protect pilgrims and avoid serious health risks during the pilgrimage.
The Ministry of Hajj said that in previous years, many sick pilgrims faced major health problems, which also affected Hajj arrangements. To prevent such issues, medical screening for all pilgrims will be stricter this year.
Who Will Be Allowed and Who Will Not
Under the new rules, if a pilgrim is found unfit for travel either before leaving their country or after arriving in Saudi Arabia, they will be sent back at their own cost. The ministry also warned that any doctor issuing a fake fitness certificate will face strict action.
People with the following conditions will not be allowed to perform Hajj:
- Kidney patients on dialysis
- Severe heart problems
- Serious lung or liver diseases
- Neurological problems, mental illness, or severe disabilities
- Memory or cognitive issues
- Elderly people with Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, or other dangerous conditions
- Pregnant women
- Cancer patients
- People with contagious diseases like tuberculosis, diphtheria, or dangerous fevers
Medical Screening and Checks
Saudi Arabia has assigned medical teams and electronic systems in each country to check the health of every pilgrim before departure. Only those who are healthy and fit will be allowed to go.
The ministry said this system will make Hajj safer and smoother for everyone. Pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj without unnecessary health risks, and authorities can manage any emergency more effectively.
Why These Rules Were Needed
In the past, some sick pilgrims caused serious health problems and disrupted Hajj arrangements. These new rules will help authorities reduce risks and provide a safe experience for all pilgrims.
Officials said the decision is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to make Hajj safe, organized, and well-managed. Pilgrims who meet the medical requirements can now travel with confidence, knowing that the authorities are taking steps to protect their health.
The new rules for Hajj 2026 ensure that only healthy pilgrims go, making the pilgrimage safer, smoother, and better organized. With these measures, Saudi Arabia aims to protect lives and improve the Hajj experience for everyone.
