Pakistan Railways has begun a large improvement project to make train travel cleaner, greener, and more comfortable for passengers. The project includes upgrading waiting areas at stations, improving train coaches, and planting trees and flowers along railway tracks to beautify the railway environment.
Tree Plantation Along Railway Tracks
Pakistan Railways, in partnership with the Punjab government, has officially started an urban tree plantation drive. Under this plan, different types of trees and flowering plants are being planted along the sides of railway lines. The purpose is to create greenbelts that improve the look of the tracks and help reduce pollution.
The first stage of this plantation work has started in Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Sargodha, and Bhalwal. In Mandi Bahauddin, the campaign was launched in the presence of the deputy commissioner, showing the importance of cooperation between government departments and local officials.
Improving Railway Stations Across Major Cities
Along with planting trees, Pakistan Railways is working on upgrading major railway stations in cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad. These upgrades include:
- Better and cleaner waiting areas
- More modern facilities
- Improved lighting and seating
- Updated technology for passengers
- Renovated platforms and station interiors
The purpose of these improvements is to make stations more comfortable and user-friendly, so passengers can enjoy a pleasant experience while traveling.
New Waiting Areas Through Public-Private Partnership
Many railway stations are now building or improving waiting areas using public-private partnerships. This means both the government and private companies work together to provide better services. These new waiting areas will offer:
- Comfortable seats
- Cleaner spaces
- Better food and basic services
- Safer and more secure environments
This will help passengers relax and wait more comfortably for their trains.
Cleaner and More Modern Railway System
Pakistan Railways says that combining tree planting, station upgrades, and better train coaches will give travelers a cleaner, greener, and more modern railway experience. The department believes these efforts will help build a railway system that supports the environment, improves travel quality, and offers a better overall journey for the public.
