Foodpanda and Government of Punjab Form a Partnership

Published on:

foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading online food delivery service, has joined hands with the Environmental Protection and Climate Change Department (EP&CCD) of the Government of Punjab. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to raise public awareness and take action to improve air quality across the province.

Goal of the Partnership

The main aim of this collaboration is to:

  • Educate the public about air pollution and smog.
  • Encourage environmental responsibility and healthy practices.
  • Protect delivery riders who are most exposed to poor air conditions.

By combining government efforts with foodpanda’s digital network, both parties hope to reach more people effectively.

What foodpanda Will Do

Under this agreement, foodpanda will:

  • Share official air quality and health messages through its app and social media platforms.
  • Help distribute protective kits like special masks and reflective gear for riders.
  • Participate in training sessions to promote safer delivery during high-smog periods.

Hassan Arshad, Director of Public Policy & Communications at foodpanda, said, “Our riders are the first to feel the effects of poor air quality. Protecting their health is our priority. This partnership will allow us to share important health messages and support cleaner, safer delivery practices in Punjab.”

Role of the Government (EP&CCD)

The EP&CCD will:

  • Lead public awareness campaigns on smog control, environmental protection, and air quality.
  • Support training and distribution programs for riders.
  • Provide official guidance and approval for all initiatives under the MoU.

Ms. Silwat Saeed, Secretary of EP&CCD, said, “Air pollution is a shared challenge. Working with foodpanda allows us to reach thousands of riders quickly and spread health and safety information to the community.”

Data Sharing and Research

A key part of the MoU is data collaboration. Both foodpanda and EP&CCD will:

  • Share anonymized data on delivery patterns and public campaign reach.
  • Conduct research and reporting on environmental performance and awareness results.
  • Use findings to improve future campaigns and promote sustainable transport solutions in Pakistan.

Conclusion

This collaboration between foodpanda and the Punjab Government is a strong step towards improving air quality awareness. It not only protects delivery riders but also engages the public in healthier and cleaner practices. By using technology, education, and data, the initiative aims to make Punjab a safer and more sustainable province.
