According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), commercial banks have provided more than Rs. 24 billion in financing to over 20,000 women-led businesses during the past year. This milestone highlights the country’s growing efforts to promote financial inclusion and women’s participation in the economy.

The SBP emphasized that supporting women entrepreneurs is a key step toward economic growth, job creation, and long-term business development in Pakistan.

Nationwide Outreach Programs for Women Entrepreneurs

The central bank reported that more than 50 outreach sessions were held across the country, directly engaging around 1,500 women entrepreneurs. These sessions included:

  • SME Baithaks (meetings for small and medium enterprises)
  • Mentorship programs
  • Awareness workshops
  • Business development drives

The goal of these programs was to guide women on accessing credit, managing their businesses, and scaling their enterprises successfully.

Expansion to More Districts

Officials said that outreach efforts will now extend to over 50 districts, reaching thousands more women across Pakistan. The SBP aims to ensure that more women can benefit from banking services, receive loans, and grow their businesses sustainably.

The central bank highlighted that building an inclusive financial ecosystem is a long-term priority for Pakistan, ensuring equal opportunities for both men and women in the business sector.

Women Entrepreneurs Driving Economic Growth

SBP noted that women-led businesses have shown resilience, creativity, and innovation, making them an important driver of:

  • Productivity
  • Job creation
  • Entrepreneurial competitiveness

By supporting women entrepreneurs, banks and the SBP are helping strengthen Pakistan’s economic foundation while empowering women to take leading roles in business.

Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship in Pakistan

To recognize and further promote women entrepreneurship, the SBP will celebrate Pakistan Women Entrepreneurship Day on December 3, 2025. Events will be held at 16 SBP field offices, while banks across the country will continue activities until December 5 to highlight the achievements of women innovators, business owners, and job creators.

Officials said the celebration aims to encourage women in business and highlight their contribution to Pakistan’s economy.

Creating Sustainable Opportunities for Women

The initiative is part of a broader effort to create long-term pathways for women entrepreneurs in Pakistan. By providing access to finance, mentorship, and business development support, the SBP and commercial banks are ensuring that women can expand their businesses, generate jobs, and contribute significantly to economic growth.

The program also emphasizes financial literacy, skill development, and networking, helping women build strong, sustainable enterprises that can compete nationally and internationally.

Looking Ahead

With more women gaining access to loans and support services, Pakistan is moving toward a more inclusive economy. The success of women-led businesses is expected to encourage future generations of women entrepreneurs to innovate, create jobs, and play a vital role in the country’s economic development.

The SBP plans to continue expanding programs and initiatives that strengthen women’s financial and business opportunities across the nation.
